A aprendizagem no contexto educacional contemporâneo é compreendida como um processo complexo e relacional, resultante da articulação entre desenvolvimento cognitivo, processos motivacionais e fatores socioculturais. Nesse cenário, a motivação exerce papel central ao influenciar o engajamento, a persistência e a qualidade das experiências de aprendizagem, sendo entendida como fenômeno sensível ao contexto escolar. Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar a relação entre motivação e aprendizagem à luz da Psicologia do Desenvolvimento, da Teoria da Autodeterminação e de abordagens socioculturais. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, de natureza teórica e bibliográfica, fundamentada em literatura nacional e internacional recente. A análise indica que formas mais autônomas de motivação, apoiadas por ambientes educacionais favoráveis, contribuem para maior internalização dos objetivos educacionais e aprendizagens mais significativas, enquanto estratégias predominantemente extrínsecas apresentam efeitos limitados no longo prazo. Conclui-se que práticas pedagógicas integradas, contextualizadas e sensíveis aos percursos de desenvolvimento são fundamentais para promover comportamentos autodeterminados e favorecer o desenvolvimento dos estudantes.
